Designed in partnership with highly regarded landscape architect Charles Gillette in the 1930s, Agecroft’s grounds feature terraces and a sunken garden, inspired by designs at Hampton Court Palace.

Agecroft was always intended to be a museum following its life as a private residence in Richmond — opened to the public on July 5th, 1969, Agecroft is dedicated to telling stories of its English past with over 500 years of history from England to Virginia within these walls.
